Symptoms of low mood, anxiety, sleep issues, poor memory recall, constipation, weight gain..
How often do you hear “oh that’s just perimenopause/menopause“?
Yes, it may well be that you are now in the perimenopause phase if you are past your mid to late 30s, but that doesn’t mean that perimenopause can be blamed for everything.
We also need to consider other hormones that might be imbalanced too, as well as possible nutrient deficiencies that might be driving symptoms like brain fog, low mood, low energy, and poor memory recall, weight gain, etc.
The new behaviour of progesterone (it’s declining) and oestrogen (it’s erratic, high, then declining and erratic) disrupts OTHER key hormones, creating a whole new hormonal landscape and shift in physiology. If we can go in and support THESE hormones, we can manage and minimise a LOT of troublesome symptoms commonly experienced in our 40s.
In this episode I discuss all of this, and talk about those hormonal shifts and what they cause. Including changes to how we process carbohydrates and manage blood glucose levels, changes to your stress hormones, thyroid hormones, DHEA, and testosterone…there’s a lot that’s shifting. And all of these hormones have an impact on things like energy, mood, sleep, and weight.
We mustn’t only blame or focus on oestrogen and progesterone – that would be missing a lot of big tricks when it comes to symptoms relief and management.
Enjoy!
