Episode 14: Understanding Your Circadian Rhythm + How To Get Better Sleep

How many times have you been told or heard to “prioritise your sleep”?

What if you ARE trying to “prioritise” sleep but you just can’t seem to sleep well anymore?!

Sleep can be profoundly impacted during perimenopause and it can be one of the first things we notice, even as early as late 30s and particularly early 40s. Whether it’s trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or both. And waking up feeling groggy and unrefreshed can become the norm (this is not OK!).

A few things can be feeding into sleep issues in perimenopause and soon symptoms can all start to become part of a vicious cycle, where one affects another and vice versa.

But, if we can get a handle on our sleep and really understand the fundamentals of how to support it, we can significantly help to not only support our sleep, but improve a lot of the typical symptoms that we are experiencing.

In order to really understand how to get better sleep, we need to understand circadian rhythms and their role in sleep. This is exactly what I talk about in this episode!

In this episode, I discuss:

  • What the circadian rhythm is and why it matters so much
  • Why and how sleep changes in perimenopause
  • Why a good night’s sleep starts in the morning
  • How our evening habits might be holding us back from sleeping well
  • How we need to train and nurture our body clock and nervous system throughout the day if we want successful sleep
  • Simple ways and tips to start nurturing your body clock Additional simple tools for supporting good sleep

I hope you enjoy and learn something new and helpful! 🙂

HELLO! I'm fRANCESCA

My goal and passion in life is to empower women with the knowledge and information they need to navigate their 40s, aka perimenopause. I want all women to know exactly what happens in their body and brain as their hormones behave differently in their 40s. And what they can do!

I have over 10 years experience working as a Nutritional Therapist, having chosen to specialise in the area of perimenopause 5 years ago.

I hold a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and I am a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
